Legacy Center Individuals Say

I participated in the Legacy Center Trainings beginning in January of 2000.  I had recently finished my graduate  school program and was working at my first clinical social work job.  My supervisor, Miki Jaeger, recommended I take part in this “workshop” which I readily enrolled.  All I really knew at the time was that I was embarking on some kind of leadership program. Four months later, I could not easily articulate the profound impact the experience of these trainings had on my life, both personally and professionally.  I noticed that I had gained a sense of self-esteem that gave me courage to believe more fully in myself and my capacity to make a difference in the world.  I started my private practice a year later at the age of 27 years old.  I also noticed an enhanced ability to connect and create relationship with others.  This made a noticeable difference in my personal life with family and friends as well as a much more meaningful connection with the many people I would treat as a psychotherapist.  One of the greatest gifts I received from volunteering as a coach and now working as a facilitator is going beyond creating tangible positive change in my own life, but being a person that supports and inspires others to do so as well.   Over ten years later, I am still practicing and grateful for the context of leadership in my life and the many possibilities it creates.

From the Legacy Center Breakthrough Workshop (Advanced) I created the possibility of forgiving myself for the little things and let them only fuel me in manifesting my vision and dreams. I also created the possibility of life being outrageous inspiring and easy.  I have begun to come into my sexuality and truly acknowledge myself as a man.  I expect to have a much closer, loving, inspiring and playful relationship with my brother, sister, friends, and other family members.

In 2002 my life blossomed like a great big flower — a flower called freedom and gratitude — out of my participation in The Legacy Center workshops. Before this, I thought I’d probably stay single the rest of my life; then I created my loving, committed relationship that goes beyond anything I ever imagined. I thought the emotional distance that defined my family was just a fact of life; then “I love you” came flying out of us every time we spoke — and not a moment too soon, because four years later my sister died, and last fall, my mother. I thought I’d never return to a career in publishing after a decade away; then I became senior managing editor at a top-tier academic press. I knew I could write but thought I didn’t have anything to say; then memoir came pouring out, and I’ve written half of my first novel.  The word “workshop” doesn’t begin to convey the scope of possibility here. These are contexts of transformation.

I used the trainings to get clarity on my upcoming career move. It helped me gain the confidence and tools to pursue a dream I'd shelved for a number of years, as well as enhanced my relationships, friendships, and business communications. I tremendously enjoyed networking with other professionals, entrepreneurs, students and families in the triangle area and from as far away as Cornell and Stanford Universities.

Easily the best investment that I ever made in myself is the money I spent on the Basic - Advanced - Leadership Program that Legacy Center offers. What I learned from this experience changed the dynamics of every relationship and career experience I have had since!!! My marriage is more honest and caring. My art educational career is a positive experience in my life and my focus is clear; to create an art educational experience that will amplify my students' greatness and their vision of themselves. The experiential nature of the workshops enabled me to see in 3-D how my way of looking at life was working; it was OK but I never felt fulfilled or comfortable -- or particularly happy. Using the tools of Legacy brought me to a clearer awareness of my greatness and everybody else's greatness!! It got me in touch with what REALLY mattered to me: my family, my work, my personal peace of mind, and my ability to affect change in the world.

I came to Legacy with dreams of owning my own business, living in a city that is on the ocean and having deep, connected relationships with my family. Now, after using the workshops, I have my own packaging and mailing business in Charleston, SC and I have created a very close family with my three children as well as my sisters and brother. Overall, the trainings have totally changed my outlook about people and life. When I see people now, all I see is what is possible for them. This makes me a better listener and human being overall. I realize the impact that I have on the people in my life and the contribution that I am to everyone I come in contact with.

The Legacy Center trainings have allowed me to see clearly how I can manifest my vision for my life. I feel total joy for the first time in years, I have spent years wondering what my purpose is and now finally I know and am moving forward with my life in a wonderful way. The trainings taught me how to open my heart and really feel the love that is there. This has led to incredible connections with my family and friends. The Leadership Program is such an empowering experience, I want everyone I know to find the greatness within as I have in this part of the Legacy Journey. My life is forever transformed and I feel so awesomely alive thanks to Legacy Center.

The Legacy Center's trainings have made a much more immediate and lasting difference in my life than any other workshops I've participated in. I am much more confident and clear about what is important to me. I have been able to create greater results in my life than ever before, and I know that there is a lot more yet to come! By participating in a community service project, I learned how fulfilling it is to serve others and to be an integral part of a team of committed people.

The Legacy work helped me create my dream job in sustainable energy. I got to actually make choices from my heart and let the world know exactly what I wanted: passion, mission, fun, challenge and great people. When I spoke to the owners of the company and talked to them about what they wanted and what I wanted, we actually created a position/job jointly that we are excited about. I am changing the world through my job and am having fun at it. More importantly I have left my life balance issue aside and can have both my work and my wonderful life with my wife.

I am just completing Leadership.  Because of the trainings I raised $1000 for the Teen Center at the West Side YMCA, expanded my freelance work, collaborated with my brother on a book project sharing success stories about "Surviving and Thriving with Aspergers," and created 10 relationships with my husband, my family, and close friends.

I've lost 103 pounds of fat and put on about 28 pounds of muscle working with the Body for Life plan and the principles I learned at Legacy.  I now regularly ride my bicycle on 80 to 100 mile trips and I'm currently training for a 525-mile bike trip down the coast of California as a fundraiser for the Arthritis Foundation (over $3000 raised so far).  Before Legacy, these things were so far outside my box, I hadn't even imagined myself doing them, didn't even know it was something I'd enjoy.  Most importantly, I look forward to every day and I live without regrets.  My life is almost the total opposite now than before Legacy, I've transformed from a couch potato to an athlete.

From the day that I started the Journey, my life has absolutely transformed. The only thing that ever held me back from manifesting my vision was in fact me and I have moved in a way that has forwarded me to wonderful loving relationships with family and friends. I have manifested authentic business partners who are totally committed to my vision of 100 Assisted Living Facilities around the U.S. We will acquire the first two in the next month and I have been pre approved for $300,000,000 (yes million) dollars to purchase the other 98 buildings, YES, life is truly wonderful now that I get that I create, I cause it all, I am responsible for my thoughts, feelings, actions and results!
